Meet the Reil Family
Reil Ranch is a family farm in the northeastern corner of South Dakota, owned and operated by the Reil family. The Reil family (Tyler & Taylor) and their neighboring partners are devoted to raising the highest quality grass-fed and grass-finished beef.
We seek to glorify God in all we do.
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Our family values each and every customer and will always be honest, transparent and trustworthy with you.
We want to be continually learning and applying regenerative and sustainable practices to our operation. We know nothing in farming happens overnight, but day by day, we're working to improve our land and leave it better than before.
Farming has been a part of the Reil family tree for years and Tyler credits his love for animals and farming to his grandpa, dad and uncles. He admires the work ethic, compassion and selflessness they exemplified as they raised animals and took care of the land.
When Tyler began farming, the practices he was implementing were completely conventional. He was uneducated when it came to the benefits of biodiversity and the importance of proper crop rotation. His cattle were grain fed and fattened quickly in order to make the numbers work and pay the bills.
Our Current Farm
Since our early farming days, we have now transitioned our herd to a 100% grass diet. The cattle in our beef program are never given any grains in their lifetime.
Our crop land consists of mainly alfalfa/grass/clover mixes and we are also working in cover crops to graze between the crop rotations.
Although our land is not there yet we are striving to add nutrients, organic matter and micro organisms through new practices such as no-till, plant diversity and grazing cover crops.
Our family's passion for raising cattle in a way that's better for them, our health and the land is what drives our farm forward.
It's our mission to glorify God by providing beef that's healthy, helps others and heals our land. I want to share with you how we're following through on those three key aspects of our mission.
#1 - Beef that's healthy
Grass fed beef is packed with nutritional benefits in comparison to grain fed beef, which is one reason why our cattle are fed a strict grass only diet their entire lives.
#2 - Beef that help others
As a family and farm, we're on a mission to do more than just sell delicious and nutritious grass-fed beef. While we are extremely passionate about providing healthy, safe, ethically raised beef to families and individuals, we're even more passionate about serving the Lord and showing His love. Each quarter we allocate a portion of our sales to a cause we're passionate about. In 2021 and early 2022, all of our beef shares donated to Feed My Starving Children, an organization helping to end child hunger and starvation. Currently, we'll be donating funds to help build a local church in our community.
#3 - Beef that heals our land
Although we're a young family and have a lot to learn, we promise to be continually learning and applying regenerative and sustainable practices to our operation.
At the end of the day, our goal is to supply our family and yours with beef that's healthy, helps others and heals our land.
We can't tell you how honored we are to be able to serve you and your family and feel privileged to be your farmers.
We truly can't thank you enough,
Tyler and Taylor Reil
