What is Tallow & Why Use it as Skincare?
What is tallow?
Beef tallow is the result of suet (or fat) rendered down into an oil.
Going back in time, tallow was highly valued and used throughout history to protect and nourish the skin before today’s questionably formulated and chemical-based products hit the shelves.
So, why tallow as skincare?
As crazy as it may sound, our skin easily absorbs the tallow because it ‘recognizes’ the beef fat, as it has very similar biology as the oils in our own skin. Pretty cool, huh?
Tallow also provides our skin with an amazing amount of essential vitamins, like A, D, E and K. Plus, it’s known for having large amounts of CLA, a fatty acid that is known for its nourishing abilities.
