Easy Crock Pot Bone Broth
Homemade bone broth is something we almost always have on hand. I use it in a wide variety of recipes, we sip it when we're sick or trying to avoid getting sick AND we even add it to unexpected treats like popsicles and smoothies!
Here's the recipe I (roughly) follow when we make bone broth in the crock pot. If you're looking for a faster method, check out my instant pot recipe here.
Easy Bone Broth Recipe
YOU WILL NEED:
- Roughly 4 lbs of grass-fed beef soup bones/other beef bones
- Carrots (I use 3 or 4 whole carrots chopped up)
- Celery (I use 3 or 4 whole carrots chopped up)
- Onions (I use 1 small/medium onion chopped up)
- Olive oil
- 2 TBS Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 Bay Leaf
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1: Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees
Step 2: Drizzle your soup bones with olive oil and place them in the oven for 30-45 minutes until soup bones are roasted
Step 3: Roughly chop your vegetables (I used carrots and celery, but I would add onion next time too)
Step 4: Add the roasted bones and veggies to your crock pot. Add bay leaf and apple cider vinegar. Cover with water until everything is completely submerged
Step 5: Place the lid on the crock pot and let simmer on low for roughly 24-48 hours (we typically do the full 48 hours)
Step 6: Strain your broth and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, pour into your storage containers (I like to use mason jars)
Step 7: Enjoy! We like to sip on it with we're feeling sick or add it to your favorite recipes!
